Songwriter Series

In October 2020, we kicked off a fresh project that blended the digital world with a more down-to-earth approach to work.
Introducing the Songwriter Series—a platform aimed at hooking up folks from Dumfries and Galloway with a taste of the music biz. We handpicked a small crew of young talents to team up with seasoned pros, guiding them through every step of the music-making process. And guess what? At the end of it all, each of these budding artists walked away with a slick, professionally mixed and mastered track, all on the house.

Our mission? To mentor these youngsters in three crucial areas: crafting killer tunes, mastering the art of music production, and getting savvy with recording engineering. We roped in industry hotshots from our own backyard, teaming up with Zac Scott (the Songwriter), Cameron Hunter (the Producer), and Dave Miller (the Engineer).

When we put out the call on social media, the response was off the charts. After a tough selection process by our panel, Stewart Paterson, Thomas Corson, and Laura Currie came out on top. Each of them brought their own unique experience to the table but found this project as a chance to dive deep into unexplored territories of the industry.

This project was a smash hit. Up Yer Airts provided a platform for these young talents to bring their artistic visions to life and venture into uncharted creative realms. All three artists wrapped up the project with a solid grasp of music creation and production, armed with skills they could put into action right away. And you know what? They confirmed—this experience was a game-changer in their journey through the music industry.
