Are you aged 15–25, living in or connected to Dumfries & Galloway, and ready to take your music to the next level? Whether you’re a solo artist, DJ, band, or beatmaker, Geez a Choon is your chance to grow, create, and perform in a supportive and professional environment.

What is Geez a Choon? 

Geez a Choon isn’t just an opportunity; it’s a residential development programme designed to help emerging musicians from Dumfries & Galloway find their voice, build their skills, and get heard. Over the course of a weekends at Telford Manor, Beattock, you’ll: 

  • Immerse yourself in music as you stay with us for 3 nights at Telford Manor 
  • Write and record brand new music with support from experienced industry professionals 
  • Learn the ins and outs of songwriting, production, and more 
  • Get practical advice on how to develop your career in the music industry 
  • Connect with other young artists from across the region 

It’s about more than just the weekend. Artists who take part will also have the chance to: 

  • Perform at gigs and festivals across Dumfries & Galloway (and further afield) 
  • Build a network of collaborators, mentors, and supporters 
  • Develop the confidence and skills to take the next big step in their music journey 

When is it happening? 

  • 24th – 27th November 2025 
  • 26th February – 1st March 2026 

There are 6 slots per weekend, meaning there are 12 slots available for new and emerging acts across both weekends. 

Who can apply? 

We’re looking for: 

  • Solo artists 
  • Bands 
  • DJs 
  • Beatmakers 

You must be based in Dumfries & Galloway or have strong ties to the region (e.g. you grew up here, study here, or are actively involved in the local music scene). 

If you’ve got passion, commitment, and something to say through your music — we want to hear from you. 

Consent & Media Use 

As this is a developmental programme, we’ll be capturing the journey on photo and video. These will be used for promotion, press, and reporting.
