Have you ever been to the Edinburgh Fringe?
Every year we go up to the Edinburgh Fringe to see lots of different events to get inspiration for what we might like to bring to Dumfries and Galloway.
This year, we will be setting sail for the capital on the 17th of August and will be offering a limited number of spaces for a motley crew U30Â to travel up, see some of the most exciting performances coming out of Scotland , and experiencing all that the Fringe has to offer.
Please stay tuned for details on how to apply for one of these slots.
Some of our favourite performances over the last few years have been:
COMA by Darkfield
Imagine the moment of waking up is actually the moment when your dream begins. In light of this new and strange reality, how can we save you from the unspeakable horrors which lurk in the dark recesses of your mind? The only cure we offer is a placebo and a promise. Please remember when you leave to take your body with you.
Bangers by Cardboard Citizens
It’s club night and the tracks are spinning. Two headliners crossfade between stories of love, sex, and losing their creative spark – set against a backdrop of precarious lives in urban London. Featuring original tracks inspired by early noughties and present-day R&B and garage, Bangers follows the highs and lows of two strangers struggling with their own pasts, while hurtling towards the future.
All the while, the DJ continues to play, dropping words of wisdom and banger after banger.
REWINDÂ by Ephemeral Ensemble
REWIND invites you to witness the investigation of a crime, which slowly reveals Alicia’s identity, a woman who dared to resist against authoritarianism. REWIND combines the science behind Forensic Anthropology with fact-based stories of resistance, to create an emotional and atmospheric experience evoked by vibrant physical theatre, powerful live music and striking visuals.
KIN by Barley Methodical Troupe
The UK’s hottest circus company, Barely Methodical Troupe brings you their five-star hit about group dynamics and camaraderie. Their physical prowess is deftly deployed, as tumbling, flying and catching become challenges and opportunities for individual bids for recognition. KIN was an instant hit with audiences and critics, playing sell-out shows at the Roundhouse and London International Mime Festival 2022. BMT is at the forefront of a new kind of physical performance, creating highly entertaining shows that mix the show-stopping acrobatics of circus with the emotional punch of theatre. ‘A beautiful, sad, funny complicated thing’ ★★★★★ (Stage).
